Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic is looking for an Experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician who enjoys working with companion animals to join our team! In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our veterinary team in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and ensuring a positive experience for our clients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with animal handling, maintaining cleanliness in the hospital, preparing exam rooms, and providing assistance during medical procedures. We are seeking to fill night-shift and day-shifts. 

About our clinic: Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic is an overnight and weekend emergency clinic offering the gold standard in medical and surgical care. We take pride in being the place people bring their pets when other practices are closed, and we strive to provide high-quality emergency veterinary care for cats and dogs in the greater Knoxville area. Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, endoscopy, and ultrasound. Most importantly, we have phenomenal, experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care.  Our doctors perform a variety of routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries . All our patients undergoing anesthesia have per-op lab work and receive an IV catheter, IV fluids, and are carefully monitored and recovered by our skilled surgical technicians.    

About Knoxville: We are located just outside of downtown Knoxville off I40W - This makes Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic a breeze to get to. Be at Gatlinburg or the Great Smokey Mountains in less than 2 hours, or if you like college football, the Vols play every Saturday in fall. Knoxville is a growing town that is filled with excellent schools and parks. The Veterinary Community in Knoxville is filled with associations and The University of Tennessee CVM is right down the road and offers unlimited CE events!

Responsibilities:

  1. Medical Support and Patient Care:
    • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing equipment, supplies, and patients.
    • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
    • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgeries and dental procedures.
    • Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory work, including blood draws and urinalysis.
  2. Animal Handling and Restraint:
    • Safely handle and restrain animals for various procedures, examinations, and treatments.
    • Ensure the comfort and well-being of animal patients during their time at the clinic/hospital.
  3. Client Communication and Education:
    • Interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner, providing updates on patient status and explaining treatment plans.
    • Educate clients on preventive care, medications, and post-operative instructions.
  4. Medical Equipment and Facility Management:
    • Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
    • Assist with the cleaning and disinfection of exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels.
    • Ensure a clean and organized environment to support efficient patient care.
  5. Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, treatment logs, and medical histories.
    • Assist with appointment scheduling, client check-ins, and check-outs.
    • Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed/Registered/Certified Technicians preferred but willing to consider experienced unlicensed technician as long as license is anticipated to be received in 6 months or less.  
  • A passion for working with animals and a genuine commitment to their well-being.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of following medical protocols and instructions accurately.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals as needed.
  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
