The opportunity:

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with medium to high complexity.  Execution of complete engineering assignments on small, medium or large AC & DC Traction Power Supply Projects/tenders cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, able to review the study reports, prepare BSS, TSS & SSS layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, Vetting of vendor offers, Engg hours estimation, visit to project sites, Technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc

Coordinate with customers, Tendering & Project Team, OUs, Project Manager, SCM, Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Secondary and civil / steel design functions, consultants, end customers etc. and provide required support to lead the Project / Tender.

Candidate must have technical knowledge International Standards related to Railway Electrification field.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Design Authority for all Engineering activities in an Electrical power supply system for AC & DC Rail Traction Power Supply (TPS) Substations with reference to International Standards
  • Sizing of the Electrical equipment for development of new power systems.
  • Interaction with sales departments and project management during both, the bid phase, and the project realization phase
  • Collaborate with supply chain function to ensure technical requirements for equipment & services. Provide technical evaluation of supplier’s offers and provide manufacturing clearance
  • Participation in technical liaison meetings with customers, suppliers, and HE internal manufacturing units. Technical management, planning and controlling of own engineering work package
  • Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design. Review / Perform load flow simulations and prepare reports
  • Knowledge of power traction simulation software for both AC & DC traction projects.
  • Able to review the outputs of EMC and RAM study, Load flow, short circuit, and Insulation coordination studies & interface for inputs
  • Knowledge of Network Harmonic Study
  • Complete Understanding of Primary design aspects of substations, including SLD, layouts, and overviews, site plans, duct bank and conduit layouts, grounding systems, and auxiliary power supply systems and control circuits
  • Good understanding of protection study, CT VT Sizing, Cable sizing, Protection & Control schemes, LVAC / LVDC supplies, Interlocking, Telecommunication, etc
  • Technical design interface between sub-systems of all AC & DC Traction Power Supply Equipment within the substation.
  • Thorough understanding of railway overhead catenary/third rail distribution systems. Having knowledge about different railway technologies from electrical perspective
  • Prepare / Review the specifications for Rectifier Transformer, Rectifier Unit and DC switchgear & Auxiliary transformer, Medium voltage switchgear
  • Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc
  • Vendor Offer Evaluations.  FAT / SAT of traction power equipment
  • Estimation of engineering effort for each project for costing at tender stage
  • Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation. Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering efforts.

Your background:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, ideally in the field of power distribution, electrical control systems having minimum 10 years experience.
  • Knowledge of High-Medium voltage technology with good understanding for system design, manufacture, and installation matters in DC traction power supply
  • Knowledge of digital protection relays
  • Knowledge of measuring, control, and supervisory systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Asian and International Standards
  • Knowledge of engineering processes.
  • Experience in project realization, preferably in an international project environment
