Summary:  The Accounting Manager supports the Controller by managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, reviewing financial statements and analyses, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly close activities. This role plays a critical part in financial reporting, audit support, and management presentations, translating financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership. The Accounting Manager also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, staff development, and special projects that require experienced judgment and attention to detail.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Provides direct and indirect supervision to staff accountants and AP/AR team members. Responsibilities include assigning and reviewing work, providing training and technical guidance, supporting professional development, and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Participates in performance feedback, workload planning, and cross‑training efforts to support an effective and well‑prepared accounting team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Review internal monthly and quarterly financial statements, including footnotes, prior to Controller review
  • Perform timely P&L variance analysis and identify issues early in the close process
  • Assist with quarterly bank reporting packages, including drafting supporting footnotes
  • Support the financial statement audit
  • Improve close timelines through stronger preparation and issue resolution
  • Review, enhance, and help present financial analyses and slide decks for operational and executive leadership
  • Translate financial results into clear, actionable business insights
  • Support deep‑dive analyses and short‑notice requests from leadership
  • Train and support staff accountants and AP/AR team members
  • Apply prior experience to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows
  • Support automation and reporting improvements using ERP‑connected tools (Jet Reports)
  • Lead and support special projects and cross‑functional initiatives requiring experienced judgment and fast turnaround

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Approximately 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience (manager level preferred) with hands-on industry execution

Certificates and Licenses:

   CPA license

Computer Skills:

Advanced Excel skills required; Microsoft 365 / Copilot familiarity preferred. Experience with D365 a plus; Jet Reports experience a plus, not required

Communication Skills:

Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance.  Role is not remote and must regularly be performed in the assigned office location. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. 

Physical Demands:

Frequently sits, manually manipulates and lifts/carries/pushes and pulls up to 10 pounds.  Occasionally stands, walks, reaches outward and above shoulder level, bends and squats.  Occasionally lifts/ carries/ pushes and pulls up to 50 pounds.

Environment Demands:

Primarily works indoors in an office environment.  May occasionally perform work in the shop environment.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.  Strong mathematical skills required.

Reasoning Ability:

Must possess critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.  Must be able to take initiative and self-motivate.
