SCHEDULE: M-F, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
SUMMARY
Supports the Infection Prevention Program for the assigned organization; serves as a liaison to all assigned organization departments/services. Develops and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection prevention. Advises on and facilitates appropriate allocation of hospital resources in order to maintain quality patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct surveillance and analyze data to identify, monitor, and report healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Lead infection prevention initiatives by performing risk assessments, investigating infection clusters, and implementing strategies to reduce infections.
Develop, review, and update infection prevention policies, procedures, and best practices based on current evidence and regulatory standards.
Serve as a subject matter expert by providing consultation, education, and training to clinical teams, committees, and Infection Prevention liaisons.
Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and public health agencies to support infection control efforts, regulatory reporting, and continuous quality improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in health-related field (eg. Nursing, Medical Technologist, Public Health)
Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience (eg: nursing, clinical laboratory, public health)
Two (2) years or more are required in Infection Prevention
REQUIRED LICENSURE
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
