Job Description:

SCOPE: The Genetics Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, specialized care in the field of genetics. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with genetic disorders. The Nurse Practitioner will also engage in genetic counseling, patient education, and research to improve patient outcomes and support families through the genetic testing process.

3.   Development and Implementation of Care Plans
4.   Research and Continuing Education
5.    Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree or completion of a certificate program as a Nurse Practitioner required.            
Minimum of three years’ experience as an Adult Nurse Practitioner
Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the Louisiana Board of Nursing and the Board of Medical Examiners and Family Nurse Practitioner certification.  Registered nurse licensed in the state of Louisiana.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS / ABILITIES:    
Ability to make wise judgments in the application of patient care proceedings

Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with patients, staff and physicians

Thorough knowledge of patient care procedures and medical guidelines in the area of Oncology, Genetics, and other areas.

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of general medicine and diseases as they relate to Oncology & Genetics.

Considerable knowledge of diagnostic tests and findings and therapeutic procedures as they relate to Oncology & Genetics.
