Who we are looking for: 

In this role, you will work with State Street teams from around the globe to lead multiple teams supporting some of State Street’s key clients. You will have leadership and strategy responsibility to oversee and deliver all day-to-day responsibilities of your teams in a fast-paced, flexible and exciting environment. The role will need to initiate and develop good communication and interpersonal relationships with business operations teams and IT and to maintain the high level of service that is currently being provided to all the clients. 

Why this role is important to us: 

This is a critical leadership role within Middle Office Services, with end-to-end responsibility across “run the bank” and “change the bank” priorities. The role: Serves as a senior client-facing leader, engaging directly with client leadership teams, acts as a primary escalation point for complex operational and service issues, drives service excellence, risk management, and transformation initiatives, ensures alignment between global strategy and India delivery execution 

The role requires a hands-on, outcome-focused leader capable of balancing operational delivery, client expectations, and strategic change. 

What you will be responsible for 

  • Partner with the India COO and global leadership to ensure Middle Office Services consistently meet or exceed State Street’s global standards  

  • Define and execute the Middle Office business strategy, aligned to global priorities and growth plans  

  • Contribute to business planning, budgeting, and cost discipline, ensuring efficient use of resources 

  • Own end-to-end accountability for service delivery, quality, and client outcomes across Middle Office activities  

  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and scalability of operations in a high-volume, complex environment  

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization 

  • Ensure robust risk management, controls, and regulatory compliance frameworks are in place  

  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring adherence to escalation protocols  

  • Drive a culture of accountability, integrity, and effective challenge 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability  

  • Build organizational capability through succession planning, coaching, and talent development  

  • Promote an inclusive, collaborative culture aligned to State Street values 

  • Lead strategic transformation initiatives, including automation, efficiency, and operating model evolution  

  • Partner with technology and global teams to deliver scalable solutions and innovation  

  • Ensure successful execution of change programs with measurable business outcomes 

  • Leverage KPI management to ensure all businesses are aligned with SLAs and client expectations. 

  • Act as a key interface between Middle Office and Front Office, including Portfolio Managers, Trading desks, and investment teams  

  • Engage regularly with Portfolio Managers and Traders on operational escalations, trade lifecycle issues, breaks, and exception management  

  • Provide timely and insightful reporting to front-office stakeholders  

  • Partner with front office on new product launches, client onboarding, and strategic initiatives, ensuring operational readiness and scalability  

  • Drive alignment between trade execution, post-trade processing, and reporting, minimizing operational friction and enhancing client experience  

  • Participate in weekly/ monthly governance calls with trading teams and key clients, ensuring transparency and swift resolution of critical issues  

  • Translate client requirements into operational and technology solutions, working closely with IT and transformation teams

Education & Preferred Qualifications 

  • 18+ years of experience in financial services, with significant exposure to investment operations  

  • Proven track record in leading large, complex global operations teams  

  • Good understanding of Middle Office functions and the entire Trade Lifecycle management and Portfolio Management 

  • Demonstrated success in managing financial performance (costs, productivity, headcount discipline)  

  • Experience in leading transformation and change programs at scale  

  • Strong ability to navigate a global, matrixed organization and influence senior stakeholders  

  • Proven capability in coaching, mentoring, and developing leadership talent  

  • Global mindset with cross-cultural awareness and collaboration skills  

  • Willingness to travel as required for business needs
