As a backend software engineer on the core detection team, you will work on the back-end systems that power our industry leading products focused on email Security. These highly sophisticated systems are responsible for protecting the corporate email platform of some of the largest brands in the world. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding team player with a positive attitude, and high energy, to help us deliver state-of-the-art products. 

Your day-to-day 

  • Collaborate to design, implement software and support systems using industry best-practices 

  • Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems 

  • Build automation tooling to help monitor production systems 

  • Address customer reported bugs, and provide production support 

  • Adopt best application patterns, technologies, and practices 

  • Design highly scalable and resilient applications 

What you bring to the team 

When it comes to hiring, we value attitude and aptitude over number of years of experience with any specific tool or technology. We assume you know how to code; we’re much more interested in how you design, collaborate, and deliver. Having said that, we are generally looking for the following skills and experience. 

  • Proven hands-on expertise in developing software in an Agile manner. 

  • Experience with scalability/high availability and distributed data services. 

  • Experience building, deploying and monitoring large scale cloud services. AWS or GCP preferred. 

  • Experience in authentication mechanisms for authentication and authorization.

  • Experience leveraging observability frameworks.

  • Understanding and hands-on experience with REST/Web services using JSON. 

  • Exposure to modern DevOps methodologies with continuous integration and deployment pipelines. 

  • Excellent communication skills. 

  • Contribution to high value product features and technical initiatives. 

  • Share knowledge with the team both formally and informally. 

  • Ready to adapt and contribute across the wider team as needed. 

  • Expertise in, or a strong desire to learn, a wide range of technologies, including; REST/JSON APIs, Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, CloudBees, Git, Python, Go, SQL, Grafana, Prometheus, Behave, Terraform.

  • 8+ years of server-side development experience.

  • Experience in data caching against external datastores.
