The Business Systems Analyst III is responsible for collaborating with the Digital Product Managers (DPM), business system owners, and users to capture business requirements and accurately translate them into specifications that aid design, coding and testing of complex software within the organisation. 

 

The incumbent performs a liaison function between the FCR DPMs, business users, software engineers and QA analysts for implementing software solutions in order to accurately realise business goals. 

 

This role will support the delivery of both BAU solutions (mainly) and implementation of existing ERP project, acting on behalf of AII to analyse, define and document segment-level requirements and ensure alignment with Corporate-level requirements. The role will involve detailed data analysis to support the provision of data to and from reinsurance systems and Datawarehouse (SQL and Snowflake), requiring strong understand of enterprise data flows and data engineering technologies and practices. 

  • Acts as a Reinsurance subject matter expert, supporting delivery. 

  • Liaises with 3rd party suppliers and implementation partners to support the timely completion of AII deliverables and provide local oversight of Corporate-level deliverables. 

  • Builds close working relationships with business stakeholders, ensuring they are kept up to date and involved. 

  • Learns and maintains knowledge of business applications relevant to Reinsurance. 

  • Conducts detailed data analysis in collaboration with upstream product teams to define data requirements and ensure dependencies on other product teams can be resolved within required timeframes. 

  • Follows business analysis and requirements management corporate standards. 

  • Works with QA colleagues to support the robust testing of system changes. 

  • Plans and facilitates requirements elicitation sessions such as workshops and 1-to-1 interviews. 

  • Works with key stakeholders to identify and document functional and non-functional system requirements. 

  • Conducts system prototype demonstrations to validate requirements with stakeholders. 

  • Assists the DPM in facilitating the prioritisation of business requirements. 

  • Produces requirements documentation for system changes, including supporting the maintenance of the change request backlogs. 

  • Observes best practice business analysis disciplines, utilising standardised requirements capture formats and a consistent approach to document storage and classification, as defined by the POIT model. 

  • Produces non-technical requirements documentation for review and validation by business users, and sufficiently technical requirements documentation to support the development of detailed technical specifications by software engineers.  

  • Liaises with technical colleagues to ensure requirements are technically feasible and business requirements have been accurately translated into technical requirements. 

  • Performs detailed analysis of business requirements to ensure all implications have been considered and identify any potentially missing requirements. 

Essential Skills  

  • Extensive Insurance & Reinsurance domain experience, particularly regarding internal reinsurance processes and related data requirements. 

  • Insurance process experience, including London Market data and regulatory requirements.  

  • Experience working with financial data; analysing and reconciling financial system reports and internal data. 

  • Foundational understanding of enterprise data warehousing and data engineering concepts and technologies. 

  • Solid understanding of business analysis concepts, methods and practices in an information technology environment. 

  • Solid understanding of agile delivery methodologies. 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to work well under pressure. 

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes quickly. 

  • Ability to influence others in order to improve processes and application quality. 

  • Ability to work independently. 

 

Desirable Skills  

  • Experience implementing, supporting and enhancing reinsurance systems, including integration with internal and external systems. 

  • Workday experience highly desirable. 

  • Some experience using JIRA or similar agile tools. 

  • Strong understanding of SQL and ability to use SQL tools to query a database to retrieve data. 

  • Basic understanding of API technology for system integrations.

  • Required knowledge & skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or a related field (or equivalent in experience) with 5 years of related experience  

  • Formal Business Analysis qualifications (BCS, IIBA etc.) desirable. 

  • IT Agile certifications beneficial.
