Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing and screening, loading and hauling, tunneling, quarrying and breaking and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and to our Indirect Purchase department at Pune, we are now looking for a Manager – Indirect Purchase to join us.

Your scope:

To manage and execute indirect purchase and sourcing activities for meeting internal customer needs within timeline.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:                                                                                        

  • Ensure safety, employees health and support all the EHS initiatives along with other Managers & maintain communication. Drive EHS culture in the organization
  • Represent the purchasing organization in plant/location/various SU sites. Acts as first point of contact with business & initiate further escalations to the purchasing management, if necessary. Participate in discussion with Global Teams – SAP, Solution Architects, Sandvik IT etc. - for projects on SAP/ERP/Compliance Portal development vis-à-vis India issues.
  • Supervise & drive the timely fulfillment of goods & service purchasing at right price, quality, quantity and time for attaining the business targets
  • Manage Legal Contracts & strategies for various categories & sites for scope, commercial, delivery & performance improvement ongoing basis
  • Ability to handle complete PO Process – creation, communication with Internal stakeholders & suppliers, follow up & closure of all related actions
  • Execute procurement plans within Sandvik policies, Supplier code of conduct and procedures to achieve operational objectives.
  • Analyze and present monthly reports & site dashboards to Senior Management
  • Develop the qualification & competence of operational buyer team.
  • Supports Indirect Purchasing organization for sourcing activities in coordination with Head – Indirect Purchase. Represent in functional AUDITs & co-ordinate issues resolutions with team members.
  • Negotiations with suppliers based on time-to-time guidelines from Head Indirect Purchase.
  • Handle organizational and administrational tasks based on Organizational priorities for Mines – e.g. routine visits to underground / ground mining team meetings / assessment of needs. Handle extended mining site stay for co-ordination on operational deliverable monitoring
  • Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs by improving the organization’s buying patterns and supply channels.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage the complex or important supplier and vendor relationships to secure terms that are in the organization’s best interest.
  • Manages a generally homogeneous team; adapts plans and priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges in accordance with the Sandvik Leadership Model
  • Knowledge of Indian TAX, Legal, Import / Export Procedures etc.           

Your profile:

Our candidate should have hands on in purchasing and sourcing activities with at least 8+ years relevant experience including experience working with cross functional team.

A graduate Mechanical/Electrical/Civil engineer is required. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Other required competencies that we find necessary are:

  • Excellent Leadership Skills,
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent Written & Spoken communication in English (UK) &  Hindi, One  local / regional language(s)
  • Excellent knowledge in PPEs, Spare & Consumable (MRO items), Service & CAPEX Contracts ,
  • Handling of large data configuration,
  • Analytical Mind
  • Expert in MS Office Software usage
  • Excellent understanding in MIS reporting related to Purchasing
  • AURORA / SAP / Other ERP Experience highly preferred
  • Ability to handle all types of AUDITs independently
