Future Talent Internship Programme – Operational Risk Management Department

Location: Malaysia

Designed for final-year undergraduates, this internship offers hands-on experience in supporting business operations, process improvement, and project delivery within a leading global financial institution. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to corporate banking operations, and develop practical skills that will support your future career.

General Description

To provide administrative and coordination support to the Incident Management Team (IMT) and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) team within ORMD, while gaining foundational knowledge of banking processes, incident management processes, and Basel operational risk concepts.

The role focuses on supporting documentation, tracking, coordination, and data collection activities relating to operational incidents and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support for Incident Management

  • Assist in logging and maintaining records of operational incidents in internal systems under supervision.
  • Update and maintain incident tracking registers and logs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform basic data entry and ensure consistency of recorded information.

Documentation and Record Management

  • Organize and maintain incident-related documentation, including reports, supporting evidence, and correspondence.
  • Ensure proper filing and documentation to support audit trail and record-keeping requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining standard templates and documentation formats used by the Incident Management Team.

Coordination and Follow-Up

  • Support the Incident Management Team in coordinating with departments by:
    • Sending reminders and following up on pending submissions.
    • Tracking status updates of incidents and action items.
  • Assist in arranging meetings and maintaining records of discussions where required.

Reporting Support (Administrative)

  • Assist in compiling information for internal reporting and management updates.
  • Support the preparation of reporting templates by performing data consolidation, formatting, and basic updates.
  • Ensure the completeness of information prior to submission to reviewers.

Post-Incident Tracking

  • Maintain records of corrective actions and follow-up items arising from incidents.
  • Monitor and update the status of action items for tracking purposes.
  • Assist in maintaining centralized tracking of incident closure status.

KRI Data Collection and Monitoring Support

  • Assist in collecting KRI data from respective departments based on reporting timelines.
  • Track submission status and follow up with departments on outstanding KRI data.
  • Update and maintain KRI tracking logs and dashboards (administrative updates only).
  • Support the consolidation of KRI data into reporting templates for management review.
  • Maintain proper documentation of KRI submissions for record-keeping and audit purposes.

Learning and Development Scope

As part of the internship, you will be provided with guidance to develop a basic understanding of:

  • The incident management lifecycle (escalation, reporting, and closure).
  • Internal incident reporting processes and documentation requirements.
  • An overview of Basel operational risk concepts, including incident/loss event classification.
  • The role of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) in monitoring operational risk exposure.
  • The role of ORMD in supporting operational risk governance within the Bank.

Other Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Bank policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information handled in the course of duties.
  • Perform any other administrative tasks assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

Scope Limitation

  • Strictly an administrative and coordination role with no access to customer data, banking transactions, or core banking systems.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Final-year undergraduate studying Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics or a related discipline at a recognized Malaysian university, where an internship is a mandatory component for course completion.
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 (or equivalent).
  • Available to work full-time for a 12-week internship starting in October 2026.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
  • Interest in automation, AI and analytics with a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); Japanese language skills are an advantage but not essential.

Note

  • Interns will receive an allowance of RM 1,500 per month.
