Job Description:

The Vice President of Exposure Data Services will lead the the development, management and implementation of the company's exposure data services/strategy and operations, focusing on innovative solutions for the insurance industry.  Role involves high-level oversight, strategic planning, data management, product development and collaboration with senior stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality data services that meet the needs of insurance clients and align with the company's objectives.

Key focus areas:

  • Strategic leadership, vision and strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term goals.
  • Advanced Modeling: Oversee the use of sophisticated catastrophe modeling tools to predict and assess potential impacts of natural and man-made disasters.
  • Data Integration: Ensure the integration of diverse data sources, including historical loss data, geospatial data and emerging risk indicators to enhance the accuracy of risk assessments.
  • Stakeholder collaboration, cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with underwriters, product, actuaries, finance and other departments to ensure a holistic approach to risk management. Prepare and present detailed risk exposure reports and mitigation strategies to executive team.
  • Compliance monitoring
  • Team leadership, talent attraction: Lead and mentor a team of risk analysts and modelers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Will have the initial tasks of hiring the Data Exposure team.

Job Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: 15+ years of within Property Insurance
  • Management experience: minimum 10+ years spent in managing teams focused on data-intensive systems
  • Education: PhD in Mathematics, Geography, Meteorology, Geology, Civil/ Structural Engineering
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Commercial Building designs. Proficiency in CAT modeling software, data analysis tools, MS office suite, SQL & VBA.Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industry, particularly in the context of catastrophe risk.
  • Team collaboration, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including remote teams in different time zones and globally distributed.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Stays current with industry trends, regulatory requirements and advancements in catastrophe modeling technologies
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex portfolios and developing innovative strategies
  • Advanced certificates, as applicable.
  • Deep understanding of the global insurance markets, including regulatory environments and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex risk information to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term risk management strategies that align with company's business objectives
  • Active participation in industry associations and professional networks, as applicable.
