 The Buyer participates in tactical sourcing as well as the execution of strategic sourcing events in collaboration with key stakeholders. This individual will conduct market research, vendor assessments and manage the sourcing process through contract execution. The role requires robust negotiation skills, advanced contract management expertise, and the ability to build and maintain effective vendor partnerships.  The Buyer collaborates with stakeholders in scope development, analyzes proposals and quotes received and recommends suppliers. Recommendations are based on industry expertise, quality, total cost and other considerations. The Buyer may participate in purchase order preparation, scheduling and confirmation of delivery.  The Buyer performs procurement activities to drive cost savings and meet internal customer needs. 


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to achieve cost savings and meet business requirements. 
  • Conduct market research to identify and evaluate potential suppliers. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments to draft service or product scopes and requirements. 
  • Support the competitive bidding process through RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and Reverse Auctions. 
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements. 
  • Ensure contracts meet scope requirements, pricing agreements, and corporate and safety standards. 
  • Monthly travel to remote locations.
  • Maintain and grow supplier relationships to support and expand the procurement pipeline. 
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and best practices. 

Experience and/or Certifications required :

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field 
    • Proven experience in procurement, including supplier management, contract negotiation, and competitive bidding. 
    • Solid analytical skills with the ability to evaluate market trends and supplier performance. 
    • Knowledge of the purchase order process 
    • Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, with a focus on scope, pricing, and compliance. 
    • Proficient negotiation, clear communication, and solid interpersonal skills. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, displaying a solid command of the English language. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities proficiently. 
    • Ability to work from a JM Family location a minimum number of days per month.
    • Ability to travel to remote locations monthly.
    • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. 
    • Experience using SAP Ariba solution a plus. 
    • Excellent PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
    • CPM/CPSM certification a plus 
    • Prior experience or familiarity with automotive vehicle processing a plus.
