Our Cardiac Rehabilitation department is certified through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), ensuring patients receive the highest quality care while staff benefit from timely updates on medical advancements, professional development, legislation and reimbursement. The program helps patients maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle, with specially trained professionals working as a team to identify individual risk factors and support lifestyle modification As a Pulmonary Rehab Respiratory Therapist, you will provide comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for both inpatient and outpatient populations, which includes educating patients on a variety of cardiac and pulmonary topics and running outpatient exercise classes as part of the pulmonary rehabilitation program.

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:30 a.m. -- 7:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Assess patients and develop an individualized treatment plan of care based on diagnosis. 

  • Implement ITP and monitor patient progress. 

  • Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate. 

  • Educate the patient and family about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other available programs. 

  • Act as a department advocate by participating in and supporting shadowing opportunities for potential RT students and other members of the healthcare team. 

  • Act as a preceptor to onboard new employees. 

  • Perform waived laboratory tests as appropriate for site. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program 

  • Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided for validation 

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care 

  • State licensed Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) 

  • Two years of prior experience in hospital acute care setting 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified within first 90 days of hire 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care 

  • Asthma Educator, Smoking Cessation certification 

Physical Requirements:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
