Position Summary:

Performs a wide variety of machining set-up and operational duties on a machining center and drill presses to produce quality parts to very close tolerances for use in company products.

Measures of success:

  • Meet Safety requirements, all PPE must always be worn inside the facility
  • Meet or exceed daily production requirements (production attainment)
  • 100% accuracy on any inventory transactions and Quality requirements
  • 100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviations

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works from blueprints, program sheets, offset and tooling process sheets to set-up machines, calling up programs from the machines.
  • Checks tools for proper placement and sets correct jaws and fixtures.  Maintains inventory of tools.
  • Thoroughly understands machine controls, able to call and run program, and use all appropriate tools and adjustable precision measuring instruments to assure machined parts meet specifications, calling on supervision to change data in program if a major change is required.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance/cleanup of equipment.
  • Visually checks for quality and repairs defects as required to bring pieces to acceptable quality level.
  • Maintains records, move materials as necessary (25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.), using lifting and moving equipment such as hoists. Detect and report defective materials, faulty equipment, or unusual conditions to proper supervision.  Work on different machines as required.
  • Maintains work area and machines in an orderly condition. Follows all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.

Qualifications:

  • Completed training and certificate from accredited apprenticeship school in the CNC machining trade.
  • Use of mathematics together with the use and interpretation of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, various precision measuring instruments, CNC equipment and multi-machine workstations.
  • Thorough technical skills knowledge, plus the application of basic machining theory.

Work Environment:

This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required.

This position reports into the site every day.

This position has no direct reports.
