Position Summary:
ultraimpact – Make a difference for those who need it most
The Patient Diagnosis Liaison (PDL) DACH will report to the Associate Medical Director of the DACH (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) Cluster and will mostly be responsible for identifying HCPs (Health Care Professionals) in the cluster who care for patients with rare diseases through face-to-face scientific engagement. By creating disease state awareness and educating on diagnosis, the PDL assists HCPs with rare disease patient identification and ideally motivates physicians to diagnose patients earlier in support of Ultragenyx’s clinical trial programs. PDL responsibilities include speaking directly with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical organizations and HCPs about rare diseases; helping HCPs understand how to recognize signs and symptoms of certain rare diseases of interest and ultimately, diagnose these patients for potential clinical trial enrolment.
This field-based position requires a tenacious professional with established personal and scientific credibility to interact with clinicians in key clinical institutions and peripheral hospitals.
Work Model:
Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, establish and/or maintain scientific relationships with KOLs and/or HCPs who care for patients with rare diseases
- Assist HCPs with rare disease patient identification by creating disease state awareness and educating on diagnosing these patients for potential enrollment into Ultragenyx’ clinical trial programs
- Collaborate with the Clinical Operations organization to enhance patient enrolment in Ultragenyx’ clinical trial programs by identifying appropriate clinical trial sites and interacting with investigators in ongoing studies
- Perform activities to increase awareness of the rare diseases of Ultragenyx interest
- Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate) in academic, community, and healthcare provider setting
- Provide scientific and medical information updates and scientific support at medical congresses
- Appropriately and reactively manage responses to EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) patient inquiries related to the participation in our clinical trials, as allowed by the applicable rules and regulations.
- Capture and maintain data within our CRM system and collect medical insights, as appropriate.
- It may be necessary to provide occasional support to specific PDL activities in other regions.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in clinical specialty required (MD, PhD, PharmD, Master of Science Degree) and commensurate experience.
- Required: 3-5 years of medical field experience in Pharmaceutical Industry
- Rare disease experience is essential, particularly genetic disorders
- Demonstrated experience effectively presenting clinical/scientific information required
- Languages: Fluent in German and English to allow efficient scientific reading in the disease area and to communicate internally on an international level
- Approximately 50-60% travel is required; overnight travel is required as needed #LI-CK1 #LI-Remote
