Job Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Director of Enterprise Applications & Services is a key leadership position within the IT department, responsible for guiding a versatile team across various functions supporting applications across all business units. This role is integral to the development, support, and delivery of application services, requiring a strong technical vision and problem-solving skills to ensure the organization's technology needs are efficiently met and that technology solutions are strategically aligned with organizational goals. The role oversees business processes supported by technology, recommend enhancements, and maintains compliance with data governance policies and promotes adherence to quality and IT standards for delivering services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement the overall strategy for business applications to align with organizational goals.
    • Lead the long-term planning for application infrastructure and support.
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of managers, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Manage the performance and results of the application development division.
    • Develop and execute business plans and contribute to the development of company or functional strategy.
    • Ensure alignment with organizational strategies and business plans.
    • Direct and manage the application development team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Ensure Disaster Recovery (DR) plans and processes are defined and tested.
  • Application Lifecycle Management:
    • Oversee the entire lifecycle of business applications from selection and implementation to maintenance and decommissioning.
    • Ensure applications are scalable, secure, and meet compliance requirements.
    • Resolve highly complex or unusual business problems using advanced critical thinking.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of application software based on development standards, to ensure business needs are met with quality and adherence to best practices.
    • Oversee the response to user support requests, ensuring high levels of user satisfaction and system performance.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Foster strong relationships with technology teams and business partners to ensure satisfaction.
    • Negotiate with senior leaders across the business and influence the opinions of others within the business unit and in external organizations.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and provide regular updates on project status.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Contribute to the development of the functional and operational long-term strategy.
    • Develop annual business plans to ensure alignment with overall company objectives.
    • Lead the resolution of business problems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Vendor and Contract Management:
    • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with software vendors and service providers, ensuring periodic vendor reviews
    • Negotiate major contracts and ensure vendor performance aligns with company standards.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing enterprise applications, both on-premises and cloud applications with experience in application and integration development or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, IT governance, managing large teams and complex projects with a solid understanding of project management
  • Strong technical background with knowledge and understanding in various application development methodologies and technologies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's) is preferred.
