The von Hoegen and Lau Research Groups invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scholar position that will be based at the The Physics Research Building at The Ohio State University. The groups are involved in several projects concerning ultrafast spectroscopy of quantum materials, including THz microscopy, as well as research on 2D materials and their heterostructures. The Post Doctoral Scholar will take a leading role in the operation of a novel THz microscope for the investigation of two-dimensional quantum materials and devices as well as low-temperature cryogenic measurements of their eletcronic characteristics.

This is a term position for 1 years and is renewable based on performance and availability of funds.

Required Education:

  • Doctorate (Academic) with a Major in physics, materials science or related fields

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in physics, materials science or related fields by the time of appointment.

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishments in 2D materials research

  • Experience in preparing and measureing 2D heterostructure devices

  • Experience in performing and leading experimental campaigns

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with twisted (Moire) materials heterostructures

  • Experience with operating ultra low temperature cryogenics (~ mK)

  • Experience with cleanroom work

  • Experience developing a Python-based laboratory control and data-acquisition infrastructure
