Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Architect – Cloud & Infrastructure Security to serve as a senior technical leader responsible for shaping secure architecture across cloud and on-premise environments.
This role operates at the center of the Business Application Solutions Engagement (BASE) architecture review process, providing security leadership, architectural oversight, and risk governance for enterprise solutions. The architect will partner closely with solution architecture, cloud engineering, and business technology teams to ensure security is embedded by design into all target architectures.
As a principal architect, you will define strategy, establish enterprise security patterns, and influence technology decisions at scale—ensuring alignment to security principles, regulatory requirements, and enterprise standards.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Governance & BASE Engagement
- Serve as the lead cloud and infrastructure cybersecurity architect supporting the BASE architecture review process, ensuring security requirements are incorporated early in solution design
- Review and assess technical system architectures for security risks, control gaps, and compliance alignment
- Provide approval, conditional approval, or remediation guidance for architecture designs
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise security standards, policies, and target architecture principles and patterns
- Drive consistency in how security controls are applied across all architecture reviews
- Publish Risk Assessment Reports that include threats and mitigating controls aligned to GEV policies and standards
Cloud & Infrastructure Security Architecture
- Apply Zero Trust principles across identity, network, application, and data layers
- Define and publish reusable solution and security patterns
- Ensure proper implementation of security controls (prevent, detect, respond) across infrastructure and platforms
- Partner with cloud engineering to translate security architecture into deployable controls and configurations
Secure-by-Design & Solution Enablement
- Collaborate with solution architects and engineering teams to design secure, scalable, and compliant architectures
- Embed security controls into design patterns, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks
- Publish and maintain enterprise-approved solution patterns to accelerate delivery and reduce risk
- Enable teams to adopt standard patterns to simplify and fast-track architecture approvals
Standards, Policy & Framework Leadership
- Establish and evolve enterprise cybersecurity control frameworks, policies, and standards
- Define architecture guardrails for cloud services, infrastructure, and platform deployments
- Ensure alignment with regulatory, compliance, and enterprise cyber requirements
- Drive integration of security governance into engineering and delivery processes
Technical Leadership & Enterprise Influence
- Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert in cloud and infrastructure security
- Mentor and guide cybersecurity and solution architecture teams
- Influence enterprise-wide security strategy and architecture direction
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Cloud, Platform, GRC, Networking, IAM) to drive alignment
- Lead initiatives to standardize and modernize security architecture practices
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with strong focus on cloud and infrastructure security architecture
- 5+ years in senior or principal-level architecture roles within large-scale enterprise environments
- Deep expertise in AWS and/or Azure security architecture, including landing zones, IAM, networking, and workload protection
- Strong knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and implementation across hybrid environments
- Experience with architecture review processes, risk assessments, and security governance frameworks
- Proven ability to define and implement enterprise security standards, policies, and patterns
- Experience partnering with engineering teams to operationalize security controls
- Strong understanding of security domains: IAM, network security, cloud security, data protection, and application security
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or leading formal architecture review processes similar to BASE
- Knowledge of enterprise cloud governance, CSPM, and policy enforcement technologies
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and secure CI/CD pipeline design
- Experience in regulated industries or environments requiring strong compliance alignment
- Certifications such as:
- CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent
- AWS/Azure Security Specialty certifications
- Experience developing reusable architecture patterns and reference architectures
- Background working across both IT and OT / hybrid environments

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $165,800.00 and $276,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
