Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Expense Management, the Finance Manager will join Corporate Support expense management team. This role will provide support to select Corporate functions for all finance related activities including strategic planning, budgeting/forecasting, reporting, chargeback process, expense optimization and business casing. The position may consolidate the results for some or all of Corporate Support functions.

What will you do:

  • Partner with respective Corporate functions to provide end-to-end finance support for expense management, planning and forecasting, providing guidance and recommendations on paths to achieving expense targets, leveraging opportunities and managing through risks
  • Understand key financial and operational performance drivers and lead monthly/quarterly management reviews/reporting on performance and variance analysis
  • Work closely with the Controllership team on the month-end and quarter-end closing process
  • Coordinate Budget, strategic plan and forecasting cycles, working with Hyperion systems support, budget end users, and functional leaders to ensure adherence to approved Business Plans where necessary
  • Manage the Corporate allocations for respective functions, aim to reduce turnaround time and enhance transparency for our business groups
  • Build new reports and develop processes on an ad-hoc basis, identifying opportunities to improve existing reporting and analysis
  • Leverage technology and financial systems to enhance data accuracy and reporting capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency

What do you need to succeed:

  • Proven financial acumen through professional designation (CA, CPA, CFA, FCIA) and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to interact, effectively communicate and influence senior management
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to quickly process complex information and present in a structured and clear manner
  • Ability to multi-task including managing multiple stakeholders and issues concurrently
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and Reporting, Tableau applications is an asset
  • Attention to detail and accuracy along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Macros considered an asset
  • Focused on identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and overall change management incl. leverage technology to streamline processes & reporting
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
