Mechanical Design Engineer **SIGN ON BONUS**

As Mechanical Design Engineer you will work with multiple teams within the Engineering Group to support the development, design, and testing of components and systems for advanced nuclear reactor projects. This is a new position created due to team and project growth. The ideal candidate is an early-career engineer who is hands-on, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.

In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks including mechanical design, test development, cross functional coordination, and vendor engagement. You will work closely with analysis engineers, electrical engineers, technicians, and external vendors to help drive product development forward. You will be working with minimal supervision, taking ownership of well-scoped tasks with guidance.

Location: Brea, CA

Salary: $85,000 – $130,000

Your Challenge

  • Developing mechanical designs of hydraulically operated equipment, valves, and various nuclear plant components in CAD (SolidWorks)

  • Creation of component level manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings. Preparation of engineering documentation including design specifications, test plans, and procedures Coordinate cross-functionally between mechanical, electrical, and analysis teams to drive the design process.

  • Create and execute test strategies based on system requirements, support hands-on testing and troubleshooting

  • Support technicians during fabrication or test setup and assist in resolving issues

  • Review customer specifications and drawings; participate in customer meetings and technical discussions

 

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Mechanical Design or Test Engineering experience.

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems.

  • Familiarity with metal in engineering applications and common manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, welding)

  • High proficiency in CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred), engineering drawings, GD&T and related standards.

  • Experience or exposure to test development, testing, or lab work

  • Ability to thrive in a work environment with evolving requirements and limited prior designs

  • Ability to work cross-functionally

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Attentive to detail while maintaining proper perspective.

  • Curious, adaptable, and creative problem solver
