Job Description:

PURPOSE

According to the prescribed policies and procedures of the organization including all applicable federal, state and local regulations and under the general supervision of the Director of Data Analytics, this position is responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing health data to support organizational decision-making. This position will focus on leveraging SQL, report automation, and data visualization tools such as Power BI to ensure data accuracy, streamline reporting processes, and provide actionable insights for various stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for maintaining data analysis and reporting policies, support strategic goals, and foster collaboration with stakeholders.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Design and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze health data from diverse sources.
  • Create, manage, and enhance databases, tables, views, and stored procedures to fulfill health data reporting requirements.
  • Automate recurring reports to streamline processes and minimize manual effort, utilizing tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or other reporting frameworks.
  • Conduct manual data entry and generate reports from various third-party platforms.
  • Deliver market intelligence analysis to compare and benchmark organizational service lines against competitors.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to assist operations in addressing business challenges.
  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives aimed at expanding organizational services.

Data Visualization & Dashboarding:

  • Design and create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and other BI applications to effectively communicate data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to gather reporting requirements and develop custom visualizations that enhance health outcomes and operational performance.
  • Optimize reports and dashboards in Power BI or other BI applications for improved performance and usability.

Quality Assurance & Data Governance:

  • Ensure data quality through rigorous validation and testing of data extracts and reports.
  • Uphold and implement data governance standards and practices to maintain the consistency, accuracy, and security of health data.
  • Facilitate coordination efforts for establishing data connections and extractions from vendor systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT teams to support data-driven initiatives and projects.
  • Deliver training and support to end-users on Power BI, report interpretation, and data literacy.
  • Transform complex data concepts into actionable insights and recommendations.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in healthcare, health informatics, data analytics, and reporting technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, tools, and methodologies to improve data accessibility and usability.

Reports all complaints made by residents/clients and/or families to the appropriate supervisors, reports all allegations of abuse, misappropriation of funds/resident property and/or any other corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state and local regulations and laws.
  • Completes all annual education requirements timely, including but not limited to Compliance, Privacy, Security and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in the performance of their duties.

JOB SPECIFICATION SHEET – Health Informatics Analyst 

Education:                         Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience:                       Minimum of 3 years of experience in health informatics or data analytics. Proven experience with SQL (e.g., complex queries, stored procedures). Hands-on experience with data visualization tools, particularly Power BI. Experience in report automation and working with large health data sets. Knowledge

in the health information field and working with healthcare data. Experience in working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) data.

Mental:               Must have excellent communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.  Must have the ability to speak, read, write and understand English, as well as the ability to make self-understood.

Skills:                   Advanced proficiency in SQL (e.g., querying, database management). Strong experience with Power BI or other BI applications and Microsoft Excel. Experience in report automation (e.g., SSRS, SQL). Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes. Understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, HL7) and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).

                                Must have good working computer skills with basic professional computer software (Microsoft Office suite, Windows, etc.) and the capacity for learning new software systems quickly.  Must be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage tasks and assignments concurrently. 

                               Must have strong motivational skills and a high emotional intelligence quotient (EQ)

Travel:                  Rare, up to 10% with overnight stays
