Position Highlights
  • Ophthalmic Technician
  • Location: Swedish Hospital - Chicago, IL
  • Full time, 40 hours/week
  • Hours: 7:15am-5:00pm
  • Monday - Friday

What you will need:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent
  • Experience:  1-2 years in a Ophthalmologist’s office

General Summary:

Certified Ophthalmic Assistants work under the supervision and direction of an ophthalmologist to perform ophthalmic clinical studies.  They are trained to measure visual acuity, instill ocular medications, obtain ocular, medical and family histories, perform manifest or epic refractometry, instructing patients regarding medications, tests and procedures, coordinate patient flow, measure intraocular pressure, participate in telephone triage, perform pupil assessment, perform eye muscle assessment and perform confrontational visual fields.
