Occupational Therapist – Per Diem – Neonatal/Pediatrics

At the NewYork-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns, you’ll find a patient-focused, engaging, and supportive environment. The Neonatal Therapist, as part of a patient-centered multidisciplinary team, will strive to maximize developmental outcomes, support infant mental health, and facilitate family interaction. This role requires specialized NICU training to the optimization of each infant’s development at the earliest point in the lifespan.  

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation and treatment of infants in the NICU with a variety of diagnoses which may affect the following systems: family and psychosocial, neurodevelopment, neuromotor, neurobehavioral, musculoskeletal and sensory.

  • In addition to problem-based referrals, complete developmental assessments and treatment plans on infants <1500g (or <32 weeks GA) at birth. Proceed with individualized therapeutic intervention based on treatment plan.

  • Therapeutic interventions to optimize development and facilitate the prevention of adverse sequelae due to prematurity and/or iatrogenic problems associated with prolonged hospitalization.

This position is per-diem and days worked are flexible.  Ideally, seeking someone with weekday availability however will also provide intermittent support on weekends and holidays.

Preferred Criteria

  • 2 years NICU experience

  • Certified Neonatal therapist

  • Pediatric ICU and early mobilization experience

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification

Required Criteria

  • BS degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
