The Supervisor-Gas Operations-Dispatch will supervise and lead a team of employees that provide 24/7/365 dispatching services for our Enbridge Gas Ohio utility, and will be located in Gastonia, North Carolina. Enbridge Gas North Carolina’s Dispatch Operations supports Ohio gas distribution operations, including oversight of the emergency plan for timely service restoration during gas outages. The Supervisor will ensure proper work methods are applied and safety precautions are followed. They will advise and assist in training and development of employees and communicate across varied disciplines to complete tasks and resolve issues. While the Supervisor generally works day shift Monday to Friday, applicants must be capable of meeting with employees on all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary. The Dispatch supervisor must be available to receive calls related to system problems, scheduling issues, and/or emergencies at all hours of the day/night.
Ensuring that dispatchers have access to the appropriate software and applications for performance of job duties
Evaluating and developing the Dispatcher team
Providing training related to safety, proper procedures, and job performance
Monitoring to ensure adherence to procedures and ensuring quality customer service
Scheduling and ensuring adequate dispatcher shift coverage
Working with Operations leadership to ensure optimum workforce management and efficient completion of field work orders
Ensuring adequate communication with field employees and leadership
Properly recognizing and managing abnormal operating conditions, and making the appropriate notifications
Monitoring to ensure employee productivity
Performing time and expense approval
Monitoring departmental budget
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of directly related experience; or
Associates Degree and 5+ years of directly related experience; or
High School diploma and 7+ years of directly related experience; or
Directly related experience includes: utility operations and/or maintenance, dispatching, operations, customer service, contact/call center, transportation/service industry, emergency response, or other related fields
Knowledge of: Natural gas / utility industry; Operations activities; policies and procedures governing Company and customer generated work.
Skills: Strong leadership skills; communicate effectively; orally and in writing, interpersonal, problem solving, project and time management, organization skills, strong computer skills
Abilities: Motivate employees; handle constantly changing and emerging priorities; handle emergencies and stressful situations; interact with others; provide direction; evaluate results; schedule and prioritize work, and decision making
Salesforce Field Service SFS experience
Bachelor’s Degree and 7+years directly related experience
3+ years supervisory, lead, or project lead experience
3+ years experience in utility or emergency response dispatching
Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 20 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 20 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement, grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand sophisticated problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, coordinate and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and connect with individuals via telephone.
