As a core member of Private Markets Technology, the Senior Business Systems Analyst configures and supports portfolio monitoring and accounting platforms (Chronograph, State Street, Dynamo, CIBC Mellon), validates data with SQL/Python on Databricks/Azure, and ensures quality in Power BI/Power Apps. Partnering with Private Equity, Infrastructure, Real Estate, and Global Credit, the role translates business objectives into requirements and resilient solution designs aligned to IMCO architecture. The incumbent leads implementations and upgrades, strengthens production stability and service levels, expands secure data access for totalportfolio analytics, and embeds rigorous testing, documentation, DR/BCP, and operationalrisk practices.    

As a Member of Our Team You Will be Responsible For:

Private Market Systems/Application Configurations 

  • Work with/configure our portfolio monitoring solution (Chronograph, Allvue, Statestreet, etc.) , Subledgers (Dynamo), Accounting platform (CIBC Mellon) 
  • Perform Data analysis and validation using SQL, Python on Databricks/Azure 
  • Validate data in PowerBI/Power apps 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Act as primary liaison to all investment management teams across private markets asset classes – Private Equity, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Global Credit 
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to ensure full understanding of business objectives, priorities, and requirements 
  • Engage technology architects and other IT partners to determine dependency and impact to the overall investment systems architecture 
  • Partner with all stakeholders, including investment management, IT, and third-party vendors, to design and develop solutions to supports investment strategies and corporate objectives 

Private Markets Process Analysis  

  • Elicit business requirements, conduct analysis, translate into technical specifications and feasible solutions 
  • Perform detailed process mapping and document findings as related to investment management and operations 
  • Contribute to business cases for systems implementations, and participate in RFP and due diligence processes 
  • Manage enhancements of investment operations and workflows including downstream processing and investment reporting 
  • Conduct risk-benefits analysis in clear technical and non-technical language 
  • Ensure adherence to IMCO’s processes and procedures, and the overall supportability of all solutions with proper documentation and training 

Production Support and Enhancement 

  • Strive to improve environment stability by working with others to set up and maintain production configurations 
  • Continuously improving service levels with all business users 
  • Provide business support for private market systems, investigate root causes when issues arise, recommend changes, oversee execution, and maintain accurate documentation 
  • Implement and manage new investment systems solutions to support all front office functions, including all private markets asset classes 
  • Design and build better access to data for total portfolio analytics and management capabilities  
  • Lead investment applications implementations, enhancements, and systems upgrade 
  • Design, manage and execute the testing process to ensure visibility, traceability, and execution to deliver high quality solutions 
  • Disseminate knowledge and information with other staff in collaborative manner 
  • Think creatively to design solutions with a forward-thinking approach to best accommodate future opportunities in IMCO’s growing environment 
  • Understand operational risk and systems performance management in all initiatives 
  • Represent IT team to plan and execute DR/BCP 

  What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/ Finance/ Data Management or a related discipline with 10+ years of experience in the asset management or investment industry 
  • 7+ years of experience in supporting technology applications in private market asset classes – Private equity, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Global Credit 
  • Implementation experience of private markets investment systems such as portfolio management and analytical systems (e.g., Chronograph, iLevel, efront) or subledger systems (e.g., Investran, Yardi, Sentry), deal and capital management systems (e.g., DealCloud 
  • Experience with SQL, Python, exposure to cloud environment (preferably Azure) portfolio monitoring, Dynamo, Pitchbook, Preqin would be a bonus 
  • Experience with PowerBI, Power app, Power automate
  • Solid understanding of private markets investment workflows such as origination and deal flow of direct and co-investment and and operational processing requirements 
  • Strong experience in data aggregation from multiple sources and investment reporting 
  • CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSC, Lean and/or Six Sigma, or PMP designation is a bonus 

The base salary range for this position is CAD $105,000.00 - $138,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in IMCO's annual incentive plan.
