About You:
This role supports two labs: the rapid testing group and polymer separations group. Your role will include rapid product/process research. Development and manufacturing within the company require chemical measurements that remove hesitation and guesswork in the fast-paced environment of R&D. Quantification of chemical composition and trace impurities that adversely affect product/process performance is critical for business success. Analytical Science provides Dow businesses with the resources to meet this critical chemical measurement need. The capability is strategically aligned which enables custom solutions to tackle the specific needs identified by our businesses.
• We are seeking a R&D/TS&D Technician with excellent laboratory skills to work hands on in our deformulation, and separations laboratories.
• This role is in a group that provides crucial analytical data in a fast time frame to R&D, TS&D, and M&E business partners
• This role collaborates with other chemists and engineers to solve challenging problems
• You will provide basic technical support to Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities and studies.
• You will provide technical support for product development, application development, technical service, and/or product or process research.
• Participation in all aspects of the laboratory is expected, which includes preparing and running samples, lab maintenance, operating and maintaining instrumentation, developing methods of analysis, analyzing data and reporting results, interacting with internal clients, and solving challenging problems using a variety of state-of-the-art analytical techniques
• Participate in all safety programs mandated by the site and the department; frequently evaluate operating procedures for safety and data quality purposes
• Maintains inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies
• Promptly and effectively communicates issues to technology leader or lead scientists in order to enable or accelerate problem resolution
• Actively participates in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics

• An Associate’s Degree in a Laboratory Science related field OR 3 or more years of military training/experience.
• Experience in a laboratory setting (industrial or academic)
• Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills
• Must be able to work successfully in a team environment
• Must be able to work with and take direction from multiple scientists
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Materials Science
• Hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
• Experience and knowledge in working with polymer and coating materials
• Experience and knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new analytical instrument software systems.
• A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
• Strong laboratory skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
