Job Description:

The Senior Strategic Portfolio Demand Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s demand planning processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that project demand aligns with available resources, enabling the successful delivery of strategic initiatives. The Senior Demand Manager will work closely with the Sr. Strategic Portfolio Resource Manager, program managers, project managers, department heads, and senior leadership to balance workload, manage capacity, and support effective decision-making.

What you will do to contribute to the company's success

1. Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Lead the development and ongoing management of the organization’s project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the prioritization and selection of projects and initiatives based on strategic value, risk, and resource availability.
  • Establish and maintain a portfolio management framework, including processes, governance, and tools to support effective decision-making.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership and making recommendations for adjustments as needed.

2. Demand Management

  • Manage the demand management process, including the identification, assessment, and prioritization of project requests and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business units to gather and analyze demand forecasts, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and resource capacity.
  • Develop and maintain a demand management framework to streamline the intake, evaluation, and approval of new projects.
  • Monitor and report on demand trends, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership for better alignment with business priorities.

3. Process Improvement

  • Continuously review and improve demand and resource management processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and incorporate them into the organization’s demand and resource management strategy.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and streamline resource and demand planning processes, reducing manual effort and increasing accuracy.

4. Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to provide visibility into demand, resource utilization, capacity, and related KPIs.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of resource and demand data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as the primary point of contact for demand and resource management inquiries, collaborating with project managers, department heads, and senior leaders.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to review demand forecasts, resource allocation, and capacity planning.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on resource management best practices and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., PMP, PfMP) is preferred.
  • 6-8 years of experience in demand management, resource management, project management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of demand forecasting and resource management principles.
  • Proficiency in resource planning and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
