Position Summary
This position is a key contributor on the Learning & Development team accountable for content curation and instructional design, with shared responsibility for LMS administration, learning consultation, and Talent Management dashboards and reporting.
Position Responsibilities
Content Curation:
- Independently analyze content available on the online learning platform (Skillsoft/Percipio), and provide best practices on selection and use to all learning teams
- In partnership with learning teams, support learning program design by selecting appropriate online learning content including videos, eLearning courses, books, podcasts, and other media
- Independently design learning paths that support current in-role development of all Kemper employees as well as develop learning opportunities to prepare them for future roles and/or refine and improve skills
- Independently review all learning content currently in use, regardless of source or format, for appropriately licensing and/or attribution to ensure we are legally compliant
- Assist individuals and managers with identifying appropriate training content based on inquiries
Instructional Design:
- Conduct independent, in-depth, job-task and needs analysis to identify learning objectives, training, and other performance enhancement solutions (e.g., job aids, etc.)
- Designs content applying knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience, course content, audience location, etc. Selects best delivery mode (live classroom, online classroom, video tutorials and microlearning, self-paced e-Learning modules or blended) and best training methodologies (lecture, role play, simulations, case study, self-study, OTJT, eLearning, etc.)
- Partners with managers and subject matter experts to document and develop curriculum requirements and program designs that meet enterprise needs.
- Design and develop relevant content as needed including high-level design documents, outlines, storyboards, facilitator, and student materials (PPTs, handouts, videos, pod casts, quizzes, communications, and related content)
- Create learning standards, tools, and templates for use by all learning teams
- Provides guidance to Kemper L&D community members on standards, tools, templates, and methodology
- Designs evaluation strategies and tools to measure effectiveness, and reviews evaluations and feedback to continuously improve programs
Learning System Administration:
- Administrator of the online learning platform (Skillsoft/Percipio)
- Assist in the administration of the LMS (Workday Learning)
- Maintains up to date, in-depth knowledge of Workday Learning Administration to support current and upcoming functionality
- Stays updated with Workday Community on new features and bugs related to Workday Learning
- Assigns and follows up on courses through Workday Learning
- Maintains the HR and Talent Management & Development intranet site
- Coordinates, schedules, and tracks learning events
- Creates training communications to drive learning
- Researches and responds to L&D requests and questions
- Reviews, uploads, and tests content in the LMS and related systems
- Creates a user-experience that is easily accessible, flexible, and engaging
- Supports department-based coordinators with access to the LMS
- In partnership with facilitators, documents all workshops and related content
- Maintains and communicates monthly training calendar
Consult with learning partners:
- Consult with business training teams on selection and use of online content and the use of online and virtual training tools
- Consult at all levels and areas of the business to assess learning needs, recommend training or non-training interventions, develop learning solutions, and evaluate training programs.
- Provides training and guidance to Kemper L&D Community on Workday Learning administration
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Preferred: Master's degree in Instructional Design or a related field
- Auto Insurance Claims experience preferred
- 2+ years curating learning content
- 4+ years of training design and delivery experience
- Prior experience working with moderately complex content and designing training for multiple delivery modalities (traditional classroom, online classroom, and self-options including eLearning).
- Broad knowledge of instructional technologies and has experience in the use of e-Learning tools, such as Articulate 360
- Experience developing, organizing, and maintaining reports
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Preferred: Learning Management System (LMS) experience
- Proven organization and analytical skills
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills.
- Extensive experience effectively managing multiple tasks and changing priorities in a complex business environment.
- Ability to problem solve quickly and effectively in a proactive and positive manner
- May require travel

- The role will be 100% office-based in the future, but currently provides flexible working locations to include home and office (Dallas, TX, Miami, FL, Birmingham, AL, McAllen, TX, Henderson, NV, or Cerritos, CA).
