Job Summary :
This position functions under the supervision of the Director or Executive Director and manages the operational activities of assigned physician practice(s) and patient optimization departments including but not limited to the Outpatient Care Center, Ambulatory Surgery practices, and Ambulatory Surgery Nurse Navigation. They are responsible for the day-to day oversight/management of both clinical and administrative associates.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversight and the management of assigned physician practice(s), operations, quality, staffing, patient satisfaction, associate engagement, safety, EHR Optimization, compliance, as well as other metrics and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
- Oversight and the management of the Outpatient Care Center for patient clearance and optimization for elective surgical procedures working in conjunction with the Anesthesia department. Responsible for the operations, quality, staffing, patient satisfaction, associate engagement, safety, and compliance, as well as other metrics and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
- Oversight and management of the Nurse Navigation roles for the Ambulatory Surgery departments including their operations, quality, staffing, patient satisfaction, associate engagement, safety, and compliance, as well as other metrics and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
- Coordinates the Center of Excellence surgical programs with external vendors and participating employers including assisting with contracts, employer education, invoicing and billing, and program marketing/ promotion.
- Assures staffing levels are appropriate to volume, orients and assures adequate training for associates, communicates timely and effectively with providers and all associates. Also resolves issues and seeks guidance and informs Director as appropriate, conducts annual and 90-day performance appraisals timely and in a meaningful way, mentors and supports staff and department Leads. Performs coaching and disciplinary actions in accordance with HRH guidelines and in alignment with Director and Human Resources. Participates in orientation of staff, educational needs assessments, mentoring, and completion of unit competencies.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings to keep associates updated on changes and issues relevant to the practice and HRH. Also responsible for associate engagement.
- Works collaboratively to provide leadership and management that enables the practice(s) to meet goals and objectives, assures a safe, clinically effective, and high-performing environment. Collects data for monthly review and reporting.
- Maintains a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and commitment, embodying Hendricks Regional Health's core values. Promotes and participates in daily rounding, service recovery, and staff recognition.
- As a member of the management team, serves as a leader and demonstrates commitment to education and sharing of knowledge. Initiates suggestions to management to increase efficiency in the practice(s). Develops, monitors, and revises policies and procedures for evidence-based practice.
- Responsible for inpatient and ambulatory quality measures and process improvement for designated areas related to Readmission Rate, QAPI measures, and ACO measures.
- Participates in hospital CQI teams, committees, task forces and project groups to assure unit compliance to regulatory/professional standards and provide resource to staff.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and standards of performance of quality care and efficiency. Follows professional and clinical standards to promote safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care. Responsible for areas ACHE compliance and standards.
- Utilizes automated time and attendance system to verify employee hours; monitors overtime/discrepancies; prepares variance justification; approves unscheduled overtime and arranges coverage for call-ins or other unscheduled absences as needed. Provides input for budget preparation; monitors to decrease budget variances; confers with the director on merit
- Ensures fiscal responsibility. Monitors judicious use of supplies and approves purchase requisitions within scope of responsibility.
- Acts as supervisor during Director's absence as assigned by Dept. Director
- Represents Director of Dept. in intra and interdepartmental affairs or hospital committees as delegated.
- Carries through administrative duties to maintain high quality care & efficiency as deemed necessary by administration (Director of Dept) Obtains knowledge of Department Director's duties in order to provide coverage during absence or vacation.
- Assists in maintaining & updating departmental records including daily & monthly reports, patient records, inventory, procedural manual, and other records as required
- Supervises and helps in the planning & implementation of educational programs, staff on-boarding and development, and continuing education.
- Assists in evaluation departmental associates via the utilization of performance review. Performs required disciplinary actions for staff related to behavior and attendance.
- Assists and directs departmental quality improvement, operational efficiency, and program development for ensuring areas are performing at their highest possible quality and operational level.

- Has a knowledge base of perioperative processes including pre-op assessment, surgical site verification, and post-anesthesia recovery protocols.
- Has knowledge of infection prevention and control standards including sterilization techniques, surgical asepsis, and compliance with CDC and AORN guidelines
- Familiarity with anesthesia safety and medication management, including controlled substances handling and monitoring for adverse reactions
- Competence with regulatory and accreditation requirements for an ambulatory and hospital based setting.
V. Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree health care related field.
- Nursing degree preferred but not required
- Management Experience in outpatient care is preferred.
