Position Summary

This position is a part of the Clinical Support Office within the Department of Pathology and Immunology. The Clinical Support Office handles pre-analytic workflows related to anatomic pathology, cytogenetics, and genomics samples for clinical testing. This role is responsible for entering patient data into a laboratory information system, preparing materials for case accessioning, verifying insurance coverage and interfacing with clients.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for telephones lines and email correspondence.
  • Provides customer service support for clients, faculty and staff in a friendly and helpful manner while providing a positive, professional, courteous and empathetic understanding to all customers.
  • Makes decisions on level of urgency of request to determine appropriate avenue of communication.
  • Provides timely feedback and follows-up on status of work requests to customers.
  • Enters patient data into laboratory information system, as well as hospital systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of insurance industry, verifies patient insurance is valid and actively prepares case for accessioning.
  • Fulfills client requests as needed, including organizing pick-up/deliveries through outside courier.
  • Maintains files.
  • Maintains and updates a variety of data sets used in assisting the department in evaluating its operational performance. This may include spreadsheets and databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$17.03 - $24.61 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
