OVERVIEW:
At DICK’S Sporting Goods, interns have the opportunity to work with and learn from the leaders of a growing Fortune 400 company. During the 11-week summer experience, interns will take on meaningful work assignments and make tangible contributions to the organization’s success.
As a Summer Associate at DICK’S Sporting Goods, you will join a growing and dynamic in-house legal team and be involved with numerous aspects of the Company's Legal Department. You will partner closely with our Corporate Counsel members to support a variety of legal work, including contract negotiation and drafting, providing practical advice to clients and legal analysis. You will operate as a "generalist" and therefore serve clients across a multitude of business units (such as real estate, finance, merchandising, product development, marketing, e-commerce, strategy, store operations, facilities and information technology).
Corporate matters including negotiating and drafting contracts (e.g., commercial, consulting, vendor agreements, licenses, marketing, intellectual property agreements, SaaS agreements, and statements of work, etc.) and providing general legal advice to business partners.
Outside Counsel Interaction: Partners with outside counsel to establish course of action in important matters including commercial matters; intellectual property; consumer product safety; advertising laws and regulations; litigation and discovery; environmental; import laws and regulations; vendor disputes; etc.
Department Operations: Participates and assists in projects. Supports and pitches in on department initiatives. Works with, oversees and assists Legal Analysts with respect to legal issues and drafting.

Multi-day intern orientation to introduce you to the company, the program, Pittsburgh, and your classmates
Professional development workshops designed to increase your knowledge of the company and the retail industry, as well as develop their business acumen and office professionalism
Extensive exposure to our senior leadership through our exclusive intern only Executive Speaker Series which includes a private meeting with our CEO
Working a 40 hour work week, Monday – Friday

QUALIFICATIONS:
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree
Strong verbal communication skills to read and write reports, as well as communicate cross-functionally and vertically throughout the organization
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
