As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient practices in the decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, as well as the management of distribution equipment and case carts. You will also support departmental initiatives to meet productivity standards and help ensure that work goals are consistently achieved. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. with weekend requirements.
*Candidates may be hired into either Certified or Non-Certified job titles for this role.*
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
Provide case cart management.
Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.
Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
Perform recordkeeping functions within the electronic tracking system, including processing, sterilization and quality assurance documentation.
Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership
Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks.
OR Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of healthcare, mechanical/manufacturing or similar experience
A background in manufacturing, warehouse, or machinery
Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
