Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a temporary IT Technical Systems Analyst or Senior to join our Information Technology team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Technical Systems Analyst or Senior do for us?

With moderate to minimal supervision a Technical Systems Analyst works on domain specific solutions/applications. Their primary functions include solution assessment and validation; elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements; design and documentation of solutions; end user support; troubleshooting and issue resolution; development and maintenance of reports and queries; system configuration. This job resides within the IT Organization.

In addition to the duties above, the Technical Systems Analyst acts as the main liaison between technologists and stakeholders. They establish and maintain relationship with the designated business partners to support strategic objectives; facilitate solution assessment and validation and elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements, translate, and align solutions to meet IT strategy and business objectives; analyze and assist the business with defining and/or designing new business solutions design and documentation of solutions. They understand complex technology and applications and has experience with a multitude of business processes and information systems. 


This position is specifically focused on the work to transition SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. Organizational change management responsibilities will be a focus for this position, as well as training and interacting with the many stakeholders and business partners. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge of SharePoint Online and be able to support end user issues quickly.

This project will last until Summer 2026, at which point the position may be extended to work on the SharePoint Online workflow engine transition.

 A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Business analyst principles
  • Business case development
  • Elicitation and analysis
  • Application functionality and process modeling

Preferred:

  • Experience with adaptive and predictive project management methodologies
  • Experience with creating technical design specifications
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, and queries
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with configuration items and development objects
  • Experience in the administration portal of M365, with an understanding how SharePoint Online relates to other Microsoft cloud-based applications
  • SharePoint Online administration tasks such as creating and designing sites, site templates, managing permissions, customizing web parts, managing library views and settings, etc.

Skills in:

  • Requirements management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Meeting facilitation and negotiation
  • Creating and maintaining business relationships
  • Problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing expectations

Preferred:

  • Implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions

  • Interact and communicate clearly with technical personnel and project stakeholders
  • Align and fuse the business and IT strategies
  • Focus on the details without losing overall perspective of the larger goal
  • Maintain effectiveness when experiencing changes in work tasks or the work environment
  • Adjust efficiently to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Prioritize course of action for self to ensure that work is managed effectively
  • Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create a solution that meets business objectives
  • Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end user and facilitate resolution by technical resources
  • Propose creative solutions that meet the needs of the end user and the technology


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

IT Technical Systems Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years of professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 1 year business analyst experience

Senior IT Technical Systems Analyst:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 3 years business analyst experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Minimal supervision is provided. Completed work is intermittently reviewed. Some fieldwork and possible overnight travel.

Temporary employees are eligible to apply for internal job postings.
