Senior Director, Laboratory Operations

Gosselies, Belgium

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the overall operations of the Gosselies Site ensuring performance to the site’s high levels of safety, quality, operational, and financial goals.

  • Maintain high standards of employee engagement.   Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement to positively impact operational results, customer satisfaction and employee retention.

  • Institute and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives when necessary.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the site's operating budget.

  • Implement and maintain an effective set of management tools that monitors KPI’s, drives corrective actions, and performance improvements.

  • Drive the continued evolution of the site’s business systems including, but not limited to, QMS and LIMS systems.

  • Provide operational and technical leadership in executing lab processes and procedures.

  • Oversee key hires and talent development programs. Manage staff in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable regulations. Approve actions on human resources matters.

  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to industry regulations and IQVIA requirements.

  • Maintain biobank accreditation in close collaboration with the responsible MD. Actively pursue any additional licenses or accreditation required in conjunction with the addition of any new capabilities.

  • Partner with site leadership and senior scientific staff to develop customer relationships. Participate in proposal development and bid defense meetings as necessary. Keep abreast of new industry developments and help shape business opportunities.

  • Work closely with site leadership on such items as site governance, cross team initiatives, and scientific and operational challenges. Assume signature authority as needed to ensure business continuity.

  • Supports safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiatives.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of CRO experience, including previous role in lab operations and site management.

  • At least 5 years line management experience within a lab environment.

  • Proven experience in leading high achieving lab operations.

  • People management and experience working with different cultures in a global business environment.

  • Operational excellence/Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.

  • Prior experience managing customers and contract services is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Business Operations and Lab Operations procedures and applicable drug development and laboratory testing regulations

  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, LEAN management tools, customer excell
