Job Summary

Join a global leader in engineering as our CAD Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Rail and Transit projects in Southern California.

We’re seeking a CAD expert with a passion for precision and a deep understanding of rail and transit engineering. In this role, you’ll lead CAD operations, manage design standards, and streamline workflows across high-impact projects that shape transportation infrastructure. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inventory and assess current CAD capabilities, reviewing software, hardware, and staff skillset.

  • Implement TYLIN CAD standards for electronic files, hardcopies, and processes for the production of project plans and disseminate to staff (both managers and production staff).

  • Apply CAD expertise and skill in the development of detailed bridge construction plans.

  • Provide training in CAD techniques.

  • Prepare visual simulations and architectural renderings.

  • Coordinate with client representatives and be responsible for the set-up of project specific CAD standards and templates.

  • Review of project onboarding documentation, including BIM Execution Plans, project-specific CAD standards and site-specific document control requirements.

  • Train staff to be responsible for aspects of project set-up for future opportunities.

  • Coordinate/Interface with IT group for software and hardware requirements.

  • Overall management of project CAD files, and training of production staff to efficiently organize and maintain project files, including both master files and sheet files.

  • Coordination with project and task managers and participation in plan production and QA/QC according to TYLIN Standards.

  • Training of staff in the proper and efficient creation of plots, including hardcopy, pdf and batch plots, and download files to either electronic media or to ftp site.

  • BIM experience is desirable.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Requires 15+ years of experience and 2-year A.S. degree from an accredited college is preferred.

  • Must have skills with MicroStation or AutoCAD in an engineering environment, specifically associated with the production of bridge structural plans.

  • Familiarity with rail and roadway agency CADD standards is desirable.

  • Knowledge of working with macros and electronic delivery is a plus.

  • In addition, knowledge of MS Excel & Word, as well as computer skills such as networking, hardware/software installations, configurations, and troubleshooting is desired.

  • Willing to jump in and help the production staff as-needed to meet project deadlines.

  • Understanding of design principles and a design background desirable.


 

Additional Information

TYLin  is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $98,000 - $164,000 annually for this position and local market.
