Essential Job Statements
Independently perform all neurovascular ultrasound procedures including: Advanced TCD (imaging and non-imaging) Complex carotid duplex exams
Invasive neurovascular monitoring, emboli detection, and vasospasm surveillance
Supervise all neurosonography operations including: Daily workflow coordination, Coverage planning and shift scheduling , Onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating sonographers
Lead process improvement in alignment with: Stroke alert workflows, Neurocritical care needs , Departmental safety and regulatory compliance
Ensure quality standards are met through: Ongoing image quality audits , Staff competencies and continuing education , Participation in ACR/IAC accreditation readiness
Collaborate with: Neuroscience physicians, Radiology faculty and management, Interdisciplinary departments
Participate in capital equipment planning, accreditation readiness, and research support.
Serve as a liaison to resolve clinical and operational concerns
Monitor and respond to clinical incidents, image quality issues, or schedule disruptions
Seeks managerial input for escalated operational, legal, or fiscal impacts
Assigns, evaluates, mentors, and disciplines staff in consultation with manager
Responsible for competency validation, schedule development, and performance evaluations
May provide emergency coverage when needed
Patient Population Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age, specific needs and to provide the equitable care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Employment Qualifications
Required Education: Graduation from a CAAHEP or CMA-accredited program in medical, cardiac, or vascular sonography OR a 2-year JRC-accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Sonography
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Sciences, Neurosciences, or Sonography, Master’s degree in Health or Business Administration
Licensing/ Certification
Licensure/Certification Required: One or more of the following: ARRT(S), RDMS, CCI, or RVT
Licensure/Certification Preferred: NVS certification – or willingness to obtain within 12 months (institutional support may be provided) Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible ultrasound experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Leadership experience preferred. Experience in a stroke, ICU, or academic medical center setting. Experience in policy development, teaching, or research.
Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. * May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. * May have periods of constant interruptions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
