ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coach and mentor design engineers in the design engineering team.
• Oversee and review the output from design engineers in the design engineering team.
• Monitor multiple sources for quality and continuous improvement topic identification and find the root cause of issues using problem-solving process.
• Generate potential solutions for quality and continuous improvement topics and carry the solution from concept to implementation.
• Generates CAD models, detail drawings, and analysis required for design changes and supervises their release through the release cycle.
• Determines ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost targets.
• Coordinates design reviews on projects to ensure adequate cross functional input and involvement from all internal stakeholders.
• Analyze existing and new designs to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
• Be the design engineering representative to the manufacturing team for continuous improvements and new product introduction.
• Support the Strategic Sourcing team when interacting with existing or new suppliers including design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback.
• Understands and actively pursues the voice of the customer. Be able to understand regional requirements and identify unique use cases for vehicles in Asia Pacific Region.
• Manage local content and processes specific to the Polaris Vietnam Facility, including managing regional value content for free trade agreements.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years related design experience; preferably in related consumer product categories (automotive, motorcycle, agriculture, accessories, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience 3-D CAD modeling software (CREO, PTC Windchill, Pro-Engineering, or similar).
• Experience with complex system tradeoff analyses, vehicle troubleshooting, hazard analysis and risk assessment is desired
• Design engineering methods including GD&T, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups.
• Exhibits outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written communication). English Speaking – Will be required to interact with US based engineering team.
• Powertrain (engine and/or transmission) experience is a benefit.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
• Powersports riding experience is a benefit (Motorcycle)
