Job Description:

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as Logistics Director. AWE supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and Heartland Whole Health Institute.

About the Position:

Administers, establishes, evaluates, and leads the facilities department’s daily logistics team through planning and daily management for event setup to ensure operational aspects of the Campus meet the highest quality standards. 

The Logistics Director will oversee a diverse team of facility associates to manage a variety of events and program setups at various facilities/sites. This position will ensure that their team is utilizing our centralized maintenance management system. The Logistics Director will need to understand and provide costs for budget management.

The responsibilities assigned to the Logistics Director are considered mission critical. The director is expected to respond promptly to urgent calls or texts. Based on this expectation, this position will require you to occasionally be on call, be flexible in working nights and/or weekends during events and special programs. Capable of performing other duties as assigned.

What you will do:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Direct a skilled team and provide mentorship and growth opportunities across the campus. 
  • Recruit, select, train, assist, and supervise staff for event setup.
  • Develop and implement regular preventative maintenance plans for event furniture, tents and event spaces.
  • Organize and maintain organizations storage facilities and facilities loading docks. Transport items between sites and develop an inventory system for tracking.
  • Develop standards, policies, and procedures for the events logistics team to ensure compliance with such standards.
  • Attend planning meetings with other departments to ensure details are captured and properly vetted. Work with suppliers for event load in and load out planning.
  • Work with the Logistics Manager to make assignments and team schedules to best meet the needs of the Campus and ensure that critical items are taken care of.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the general maintenance team to ensure that janitorial services are available for events and programming.
  • Oversee the installation of event equipment and furniture for events and programming.  
  • Follow up with any work order requests through our centralized maintenance management system.
  • Prepare reports and share them with the appropriate groups and departments.
  • Identify and collect costs with on-going capital improvements.
  • Collaborate with other facilities leaders and other departmental teams across campus.
  • Maintain an understanding of the city permit acquisition and fire code requirements

Qualifications required for your success:

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
  • Effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Proven experience in facility management or team leadership.
  • Ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to learn specialized software.
  • Effectively use a variety of hand/power tools and can operate standard equipment and machinery; forklifts, extension/scissor lifts, vehicles/carts/trailers.

Physical demands and work environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Physical demands: Position requires utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time. This position also requires an individual to be physically active and capable of lifting/carrying 75 lbs. This position requires good hand/eye coordination to be essential and good visual acuity is needed. The role will require walking, equipment operation, use of a ladder/lift and occasionally encounter working from heights, etc.

Work environment: Position is full-time. Work will be performed in a public setting, inside an office environment and outside in the weather/elements. The noise level is low to moderate and equipment operation may lead to higher levels for a duration. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings may be necessary to support operational needs.
