Position Overview
The Guidehouse Energy, Sustainability, & Infrastructure segment is a go-to partner for leaders creating sustainable, resilient communities and infrastructure, serving as trusted advisors to utilities and energy companies, large corporations, investors, NGOs, and the public sector. The North Market Team within the Commercial Energy practices works with utility clients across the energy value chain to guide them through the energy transition. We assist our clients to:
Develop and implement their decarbonization and resiliency plans.
Support the strategy, design, and evaluation of customer-focused programs – energy efficiency, heat electrification, demand response, energy storage, electric transportation, distributed solar, among others.
Support the development and implementation of distribution and transmission investments to modernize energy networks.
As a Senior Consultant on the North Market Team, you will play a key role in the decarbonization of energy provider clients. In your project teams, you will collaborate with our team of energy experts to support critical and complex energy transition projects. You will be responsible for completing analyses and preparing and communicating well-organized, effective reports and presentations to clients. You will lead, coach, and mentor others on the team to ensure quality analysis and deliverables.
We are looking for someone with passion who is interested in developing their expertise and industry relationships. They will have a passion for creative problem-solving, client service, and project management. Key responsibilities for this position include:
Contributing to creative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients
Providing detailed fact findings, research, and analysis on energy-related activities (particularly energy efficiency, grid modernization, renewable energy, customer programs, new business models, and sustainability)
Performing statistical and economic analyses in Excel and/or R
Preparing workshop and meeting materials, attending sessions, and summarizing outcomes
Preparing reports, presentations, and other documents for client deliverables
Interviewing business managers, technology experts, and public policy officials
Presenting results of assigned tasks and analyses that resonate with clients
Working effectively with colleagues and client staff as part of a project team; work independently as needed
What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant industry or consulting experience excluding internships/co-ops /fellowships; OR Advanced (Master’s/MBA/PhD) degree and 1-3 years of relevant industry or consulting experience excluding internships/co-ops
Demonstrated team player with ability to lead
Client service orientation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience developing and delivering presentations in PowerPoint
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with data analytics
Strong interest in business strategy, energy efficiency, and sustainability
An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)
Superior interpersonal skills
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
Highly developed organizational and management skills
Ability to travel as needed

What Would Be Nice To Have:
Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
Contribute to creative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients.

Experience creating models within Excel and/or experience with R or other programming languages (e.g., Python
Relevant energy industry, utility, and/or consulting experience
Knowledge and experience in industry topics such as: energy efficiency, electric transportation, renewable energy, electric transmission and distribution infrastructure, natural gas systems, wholesale markets
Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data
A history of successful, creative problem-solving
Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation/result

The annual salary range for this position is $94,900.00-$142,300.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
