JOB DESCRIPTION:

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
 

The position of Industrial Engineer is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at Westbrook, Maine.  In this role you will be responsible for optimizing the utilization of personnel, processes, and equipment within Operations. Apply Lean Sigma tools for future manufacturing layouts, which will include process flow development, value stream mapping, time studies, line balancing, and waste reduction (material and labor) Update and develop standard work, analyze HC vs capacity models, and incorporate 14 Step lean and MOS into facility infrastructure Improve quality, cost, safety and delivery performance in operations using lean fundamentals

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and mathematical modeling.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence – necessary to understand plant operations
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt – necessary to coach / mentor Green Belt teams
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)

PREFERRED

  • At least 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Microsoft Power BI experience
  • Experience with overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) data management, statistical process control (SPC), financial budgets/standards
  • High degree of technical expertise and familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Must possess strong communication, leadership, problem solving, interpersonal, and teamwork skills

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
