Job Summary
Provo City is looking for an Information Systems Technician Supervisor to lead a team that supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software problems for the City of Provo.
This position involves technical administrative and supervisory work responsible for directing the daily operations of the Provo City Information Systems Helpdesk.

What is the compensation package?

(G33) $72,712 - $100,235 annualized rate (depending on experience)

What are the main duties? (For the full classification specification, please click here.)

  • Supervise the IS helpdesk operations and the technicians assigned to that function.

  • Create and report on service desk metrics and key performance indicators.

  • Expertly lead, train, and perform desktop support activities utilizing tools such as imaging, automated software distribution and automated patch management.

  • Provide end user support and training for desktop and network applications.

  • Install and configure workstations and accounts.

  • Maintain familiarity with a variety of the IT field concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Handle the creation and maintenance of helpdesk documentation, work instructions, policies, and procedures to perform the job functions.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot both software and hardware specific problems, including detecting and removing viruses, spyware, and other malware.

  • Analyze and determine needs for PC hardware, software, and other equipment, and coordinate with vendors for pricing, ordering, and delivery of equipment or materials.

  • Facilitate the manufacturer’s warranty service on computers and peripherals.

  • Inspect the work of assigned staff and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Quickly resolve issues, conflicts, and technical concerns.

  • Ensure staff are trained.

  • Prepare records and administrative reports on program activities and performance.

  • Prepare and submit a timely program budget and administer it throughout the fiscal year.

  • Assist other staff members as needed and perform other related duties as required.

What are the minimum qualifications?

Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of job-related education/experience [substituting each 1 year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience].

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.

  • Four years of computer operation and system support experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Must obtain and maintain CJIS clearance.

  • A valid, lawful Driver License.

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on October 3, 2024. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for a minimum period of six (6) months.
