Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Manager Team Leader 1 – Deputy Task Order Lead to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Suffolk, Virginia. The Deputy Task Order Lead will perform day-to-day management and planning of overall Collective Joint Training (CJT) task order operations in support of the Joint Staff J7 Deputy Directorate for Joint Training (DDJT), integrating multiple projects and groups of team members at multiple locations. The Deputy Task Order Lead routinely interfaces with the COR, TA, and government management personnel. The CJT team supports the DDJT with the development, delivery, and enablement of collective joint training to enhance the operational effectiveness of the current and future joint force.   

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary interface to senior government personnel supporting DDJT
  • Manage all CJT task order activities; lead task order reviews with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Oversee program integration, management of cost, accuracy of event scheduling, synchronization of planning and functional support, and performance quality control
  • Identify task order issues and obtain solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual requirements and specifications
  • Provide supervision and leadership to the CJT contractor team supporting DDJT operations
  • Serve as a key interface to Northrop Grumman program leadership, including the facilitation of reach back to other Northrop Grumman organizations possessing skills, technologies, or expertise beneficial to the task order
  • Coordinate overall execution of the performance of the contract team
  • Identify issues and formulate alternatives for issue resolution
  • Some travel may be required, but is not expected to exceed 10%

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Military Trainer - Task Order Lead:

  • One of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 20 years of military operational experience
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of operational experience working with General Officer (GO)/Flag Officer (FO)/Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders 
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience on a 3-star or 4-star Joint or Service Headquarters staff or civilian equivalent
  • Must be highly knowledgeable about the deployment and employment of joint forces at the operational and strategic levels in concert with the other instruments of national power
  • Thoroughly understand how echelons at the theater strategic and operational levels plan and execute joint operations
  • Fully understand the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), Universal Joint Task List (UJTL), and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) processes
  • Must be willing and able to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 10% of the time)
  • Must possess an active U.S. DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • Joint Forces Staff College or PMEII graduate
  • Senior Service School graduate
  • Joint Staff or OSD experience
  • Command tour at 0-5 or 0-6 level
  • Joint training or joint exercise experience
  • Contract program management experience

Salary Range: $78,600.00 - $117,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
