We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to provide financial analysis and decision-making support to the Machine & Machine Systems (M&MS) team and manage the cost recovery processes for two Caterpillar joint ventures within the newly created Cat Technology Division. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the engineering organization that is leading machine systems advancement across the entire Cat enterprise.

In this role, you will provide critical support to the M&MS Vice President and his team by being a trusted advisor for all accounting and finance related activity ranging from the annual Budget and Burden Rate exercises to analysis of monthly results, creation of reporting enhancements, participation in special projects, etc.  This role will also provide you with exposure to two Caterpillar joint ventures and you will gain experience of interacting and working with their leadership teams.

What You Will Do

• Coordinate the annual M&MS Budget and quarterly Forecast submissions
• Lead the annual R&D burden rate calculation process for the M&MS team
• Present high-level summary of results to the M&MS VP and his senior leadership team, while also understanding the underlying details
• Provide Accountable reporting analysis to help build understanding and generate ideas for potential areas of opportunity
• Create and utilize automated tools for the updating, analyzing and reporting of consolidated financial results
• Upon request, take part in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests
• Compile cost details for reimbursement from Joint Ventures
• Manage joint venture equity profit accounting to GAAP principles

What You Will Have:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
• Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
• Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
• Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
