The API Technical Lead for FIS Digital Platform is a technical lead role responsible for one or more agile teams within the Banking Platform Services organization. This role is responsible for leading engineering delivery on strategic initiatives within a large organization while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations, governance requirements, functional, and non-functional requirements for a given project.

This role reports directly to the Director of API Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a servant leader for agile teams in the engineering space, helping to raise issues, resolve conflicts, clear blockers, and enable efficient work.

  • Lead software initiatives within the Banking Platform Services engineering teams, in close alignment with quality engineering leadership, to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions to the market.

  • Participate in the career development of other team members, providing mentoring on new technologies and complex issues, and helping managers guide career growth for team members.

  • Provide leadership for your management team, leading multiple agile teams in delivery of key company initiatives, with a focus on API-enabled banking services.

  • Participating in planning and budget processes.

  • Work with principal engineers, architects, POs, and other stakeholders to build world-class services across a global team.

Base Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in leading software engineering teams with a focus on RESTful APIs and micro-services.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, node.js, Java, Spring Boot, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle.

  • Experience managing forecasting of software development team costs and estimating projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across cross-functional teams, negotiate complex situations, and generate successful outcomes for teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of full SDLC and best practices for large scale software products, with a focus on APIs/web services and design patterns.

  • Team player, ready to collaborate with peers to manage dependencies, ensuring projects remain on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

  • Problem solver who can navigate complex issues independently and craft solutions, make informed decisions, and communicate with partners and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field.

  • Experience leading API teams.

  • Banking domain experience

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $123,810.00 - $207,980.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
