Job Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Lead Physician Assistant, Vascular Surgery
  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview, IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time, 40 hours per week
  • Hours: (4) 10-hour shifts per week with rotating inpatient weekend rounds (Q5). Staggered shifts (6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. & 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
  • Required Travel: Occasional travel to Evanston Hospital may be required

What you will need:

  • License:  Current Physician Assistant License in the State of Illinois required.  DEA & Illinois Controlled Substance License required.   
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification:  CPR certification required
  • Experience:  Three years of PA experience required.
  • Skills:  N/A

What you will do:

  • Provide comprehensive health care services under the direction and supervision of an assigned surgeon.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients specific to the Physician Assistant scope of practice.
  • New patient consultations, completion of pre and post op orders and managing patients as the primary service from admit to discharge.
  • Function as 1st assist in the operating room, while performing therapeutic procedures such as suturing and wound closure.
  • Perform independent evaluation and treatment procedures in emergency situations in accordance with policies established.

Additional Lead Responsibilities:

  • Generation and maintenance of the Vascular Surgery PA schedule in EZcall.
  • Co-coordinating service coverage across multiple pavilions.
  • Managing API timecards, CME reimbursement balances and metrics related to vascular surgery volumes.
  • Attending and coordinating biweekly team huddles in consultation with the Acute Care CVI Manager.
  • Functioning as a liaison between surgical and support service to optimize vascular surgery volumes.
