The Cloud and Communications team is seeking a motivated, experienced principle applications engineer to provide support to our BU located at ADI’s San Jose site.  The qualified candidate will have a unique opportunity to work within the Advanced Technology and Systems team, focusing on future solutions for datacenter power delivery.  They will work with a small and diverse team of innovative thinkers with both industry and recent relevant academic experience. The products and ideas developed in our group will provide new solutions to emerging power delivery challenges in the datacenter market. 

The job requires expert analog and digital power systems design with commensurate laboratory skills. Clear and concise communications skills are essential. This is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best circuit designers in the industry armed with the tools, knowledge, and technologies of the leader in power management. 

More specifically, the candidate needs to contribute in the following areas:

  • New Power Architecture Concepts
    • Identify, scope out, and champion innovative solutions to emerging industry problems in datacenter power delivery
    • Work with customers to understand fundamental issues and needs of the industry
    • Collaborate with our academic partners on new architectures and techniques
    • Simulate and build prototype concepts
    • Create architecture specifications for design teams to build from
  • Product Definition
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce detailed product definitions
    • Propose power supply topology and feature set to meet customer requirements
  • New Product/IP Development
    • Verify the architecture and power solution through behavioral simulations
    • Develop/define dedicated Software or Firmware to interface with our ICs
    • Design evaluation boards for internal verification and customer evaluation
    • Perform product benchmarking and competitive analysis
    • Perform experimental verification to identify problems and limitations

Education

BSEE (or equivalent) + 15 years of experience, MSEE (or equivalent) + 10 years of experience, PhD + 7 years of experience

The wage range for a new hire into this position is $149,500 to $205,563.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, training, external market data, internal equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
