Summary

ASM, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Banquet Captain for ASM Jacksonville. Responsible for providing high quality catering service for banquets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for supervising all catered events.  This includes setup, execution, and tear down of all events.
  • Drive all components of event setup, ensuring staff follow instructions and complete tasks in allotted timeframes.
  • Supervise and train all banquet and bar staff on guest service standards and professionalism.
  • Conduct inspection of staff at start of shift to verify all staff uniforms are clean and appearances meet standards.
  • Prepare and distribute staff assignments with timelines for event day tasks including side work and breakdown.
  • Maintain all timeframes and adjust for changes during events for proper staff placement and steps of service.
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Submit requests for any auxiliary needs handled by administrative or operational/facility departments.
  • Upkeep smallwares equipment: instruct for proper usage, keep storage clean and organized, document damages/losses, and track any equipment transfers between facilities.
  • Conduct smallwares equipment inventory and dry goods/perishables inventory for rental/ordering for event needs.
  • Train and monitor staff on proper food handling techniques in concordance with Florida Health Code
  • Keep service areas clear of conditions and obstructions potentially hazardous to public safety.
  • Ensure staff maintain safe and clean work areas.
  • Ensure Florida health codes and liquor laws are followed.
  • Direct bar staff to make sure all necessary tools and products are in place for complete operation of bars.
  • Ensure proper handling during transit and behind the bar and of all bar products.
  • Confirm bar paperwork is accurate and bartenders are aware of service timeframes and bar service details.
  • Assist with preparation and set-up of event room when necessary.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must complete TEAM’s alcohol management training once hired.
  • Must have ServSafe certification once hired.

Education and/or Experience

       

  • Four-year college degree in related hospitality field preferred
  • At least two year’s experience food and beverage
  • Understanding of survey-based measures (Guest Experience)
  • Understanding of food handling and storage as regulated by Florida Health Code
  • Must be Excel and Word proficient.

Other Qualifications 

  • Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Daily lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Up to 10 minutes at a time.
  • Constant reaching, standing, walking, and stooping.
  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination
  • Must be able to balance and have good manual dexterity.
