We are seeking a dynamic corporate finance professional to join MUFG’s Venture Lender Finance (VLF) business unit. As an Associate, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, underwriting, and monitoring loans and other credit exposures. You'll be supporting the team’s transaction, origination, and credit analysis efforts including loan structuring and facilitating the credit approval process. You’ll also get involved in proactive portfolio management, modeling, active credit management and monitoring for potential upgrades, downgrades or general credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing the bank’s net income while minimizing credit costs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct ongoing credit monitoring of the assigned portfolio, including reviewing and analyzing borrower compliance and financial reporting.
Assist coverage bankers in diligence meetings and pitches with clients and prospects.
Prepare detailed credit analyses and required credit applications in line with internal policies and regulatory guidance, evaluating company-specific, industry, and regulatory risks.
Communicate with the credit approval division to ensure alignment of risk strategy and policy.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industries represented in the portfolio, including technical aspects and regulatory issues, using both internal and external sources.
Oversee facility closing procedures, including operations and documentation.
Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
Maintain top-quality data input in all bank systems.
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent work experience
2-5 years of experience at a financial institution or accounting firm with completion of a formal intensive credit-training program preferred
Experience analyzing and preparing credit applications for corporate credit and financing transactions
Asset-based lending experience is an advantage
Exposure to emerging tech and life sciences industries is a plus
Strong knowledge of accounting and corporate finance
Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills
Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation & Total Rewards:
The typical base pay range for this role is between $135K - $155K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
