What You'll Do:      

  • Preparation and review of the Annual and Quarterly Financial Statements and related notes in accordance with IFRS, including the supporting working papers;
  • Review period and quarterly account analysis and periodic adjusting journal entries, and reconciliations;
  • Monitor and interpret new accounting standards, drafting new accounting policies as required;
  • Liaise with internal operating divisions and external departments, including George Weston Limited’s Finance, Treasury, and Tax groups, to ensure timely and consistent financial reporting;
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the year-end audit and quarterly reviews of the financial statements;
  • Mentor and coach team members in achieving their goals and IDPs;
  • Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.

What You'll Bring:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation;
  • 5-7 years related external reporting work experience;
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience in FCCS and SAP would be an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and required disclosures; strong knowledge of Ontario Securities Commission requirements and required disclosures;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization;
  • Results oriented – consistently delivers on time and drives for results; Enthusiastic team player with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing work environment;
  • Strong problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships.
