General Area of Responsibility

The Crewing Superintendent will be responsible for planning and executing the company’s crew roster, providing administrative and operational support in areas relating to workforce rotation planning/travel assistance, ensuring up to date employee data and certificates for all crewmembers of the cluster; to ensure timely and cost-effective use of the crewing resource. He/she will also coordinate and implement necessary crew training as per requirements assessed by the Fleet and Operations departments.

Specific Area of Responsibility

Your main tasks will be:

  • Planning and executing crew roster in coordination with Fleet and Operations to make sure that all tugs are properly and efficiently manned at all time.

  • Proactively managing the crewing function, ensuring crew changes take place in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner..

  • Assist and support the crew with work-related issues.

  • Support Crew rotation and scheduling, including coordination of mobilization in accordance with customer requirements as well as internal standards for keeping records of all crew activities.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards, including travel policies, crew change procedures, licenses, medical and other certificates, visas and travelling documentation and IMO certificate matrix of all crew members in the local organization, ensuring personnel files and records are completed according to statutory practices and assist captains in maintaining on-board crew data

  • Coordinate and implement crew training, internal/external as per requirements assessed by Fleet and Operations departments

  • Support the induction process of new crew hires, ensuring smooth integration into the company and compliance with HMS requirements.

  • Assist HR and other areas with general HR duties as required, including investigation of alleged misconduct and complaints.

  • Contribute to improving crew engagement survey results.

  • Collaborate with HSEQ in the investigation of personnel related incidents.

  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative and administrative support to planning initiatives through accurate maintenance of operational records, timely and accurate reporting, as well as recommendations.

  • Ensure that crew joining crew completes safety induction and any other start-up requirements

  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as needed.

Training and competencies

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in the maritime industry (towage or offshore) preferred. 

  • Management experience in both blue and white collar environments preferred

  • Service and customer oriented, able to listen, a passion for people, able to understand and manage people’s issues

  • Excellent oral and written English & Spanish. 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft office.

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills, with initiative, prepared to make a difference and wear different hats in a small team.

  • Strong communication skills across multiple levels in the organization and with external and internal stakeholders. 

  • Ability to work in a global business environment with a strong sense of cultural diversity

  • Flexibility to travel for short periods of time if required

  • Safety environment awareness.
